Jp really improved on not being so handsy by end of year
I think this defense only allows 13-17 points a game gonna be super elite barring no major injuries depth is great
As usual Alex awesome film Session you always do the best
How is your coverage skills?
Not as good as Porters
Overall I would say he had a very good Rookie year! IF he takes a big step for his second year, Watch out! We will see. This years Defense looks to be Tops in NFL. Depends on injuries. A big Thanks to you Alex! Great work!
Allowing Daniels to leave ... a proven Reliable PRO. For Maybe Hopefully Mason ? No thanks Sign JD. Isaac way older may be a better option to allow freedom to.
Jesse James caught that ball btw.
He sure did
I know it’s impossible to predict trades but I would be shocked if Washington isn’t the one to trade for Dan Moore. They still have a gaping hole there
Fair point!
I absolutely love JPJ. He’s playing with that chip on his shoulder that Sr told him to play with. Now that he’s made these big claims of being the best…I hope he proves himself correct because if he doesn’t, he’ll get roasted.
Awesome work as always
Thanks!!
You watched _all_ of JPJR's targets. But Fields only gets "Ay, I t'ink maybe Arthur Smith can use Fields for some designed QB rushes"? Lemme show you something. ua-cam.com/video/5JO1PsupF_U/v-deo.html. *Count* 'em. Go ahead. Count the # of times each QB throws the ball off by inches (perhaps causing a receiver to be tackled instead of gaining YAC) or is off by miles & would definitely be an INT in the NFL. If Williams is Generational, how tf did the Bears make someone _better than_ Generational seem like a bust you should only think about using in the run game? I mean you *have* a video about how good DCs think. So how do you ignore how play-calling affects players? I mean we have Video Footage of Fields threading passes just beyond the out-stretched reach of defenders ua-cam.com/video/AFpyUpgpxcI/v-deo.html *_IN_** the NFL* in ways one normally only sees on Dan Marino highlights. Are you suggesting that Dan Marino wouldn't be good at passing? I mean how much more video footage does one have to provide before people abandon their false memes? When the Bears led Allen, Mahomes & Joe Burrow's élite WR trio in offense for 3 weeks straight yet the Bears lost all 3 games it was Fields' fault: "this shows he Can't Win Games." When Mooney & Claypool ran the wrong routes or deflected passes that hit them in the hands ua-cam.com/video/glpaya0xz-4/v-deo.html to the other team, people said *that* was Fields' fault. When he has to scramble for his life because his o-line refuses to block _any_ pass rusher (the first 23 minutes of ua-cam.com/video/FiiK21VzI_o/v-deo.html with a shout-out to 22:45) or his HC refused to answer why he told his QB to Not Throw To Certain Receivers on Certain Plays Fields was blamed for holding onto the ball too long. That applies to QBs in clean pockets with open receivers to throw to. Fields was told not to throw to open receivers & had No Pockets sometimes for over 60% of his snaps. Like hey, it's only a chance to grow your channel by having such a prescient video up showing he will be élite should he get a chance to start. & since Russ couldn't scramble like his old self to where he can see the field _after_ losing weight last season & won't likely be able to now that he's older. Fields _will_ likely get to start, for whatever excuse in week 2 at least. Just a thought. Why does everyone act as if Fields was born into week 12 of '22?
So your central point is why I don't talk about Justin Fields enough? I'll answer that, putting aside most of your commentary about Dan Marino and Caleb Williams and college highlights that are just moot. Short answer. I talk about Fields a ton. The videos here and the breakdowns I have done for the website. Understand my channel is a complement to my work for Steelersdepot.com. Sometimes, my breakdowns are in article form for the site. Sometimes, it's a YT video. I did many articles and film rooms on Fields this year. I watched more of him than I spent re-watching Porter's 58 snaps/targets here. So your point is incorrect. I spent plenty of time analyzing Fields' game as a quarterback. Moreso than I did on Porter this offseason. It just didn't always come in the form of a UA-cam video.
@@Alex_Kozora "So your central point is why I don't talk about Justin Fields enough?" Nope. I suggested you could look at how he got from being an élite QB to being perceived as a bust, giving ideas of how those impressions came about, & pointing out how having such a video could help grow your channel if Fields came to start & proved that he _is_ éite. Not the same thing at all.
@@ChewsCarefully Ah, understood. I'm more interested in viewing where he's currently at instead of perceptions or where he was thought to be years ago. Understanding his current skillset is the most valuable way of analyzing what type of QB the Steelers are getting in 2024. And that's what I have done to a very in-depth degree across the site and this channel.
@@Alex_Kozora Cool. Point me to dem videos. (I honestly can't tell from titles which one _DO_ that. But hey, tremendous job of stopping yourself from continuing with your first assumption & parsing this out. Concise isn't MY strong suit).
@@ChewsCarefully Like I wrote a couple times, my analysis has been a mix between the site and UA-cam. You've probably seen all the ones I've done on YT. But I had more breakdowns of his game on Steelers Depot. That is the primary form of my commentary and analysis. UA-cam is a secondary avenue for it.
So seriously stoked to have Payton Wilson in the steel city, I pray that God keeps this young man healthy because I promise u that no team will want absolutely no part of this relentless, never give up, super speedy tackling machine,Steeler nation our lbs are going to be so sick, God bless
One of my concerns is his hip fluidity. Those inside releases from other wide receivers are definitely giving him trouble. Also, his footwork on those stacks are not consistent enough. Hopefully he’s been working on that because he will see a lot of those type of routes this season
you and Steelers_DB have the best steelers content out there
Could you do a James Daniels breakdown much appreciated 👍🏽
I will try but if not, I've done some past breakdowns!
When I think who would I not want to miss any time this season for Pittsburgh? It would be Watt and then either Pickens or Porter. So for me, he has tremendous value and shown an ability to blanket opposing players.
I was thinking about that the other day - who is more valuable. Pickens or Porter? I could make the argument either way.
He ran that route for the alabama WR
The fact that Pickens made that insane catch on JPJ during training camp just speaks to how much of an alien Pickens is because JPJ was locking everyone down all season
Hell he locked down Pickens in that clip too😂. Just a hell of a grab. But yeah I’m really excited about what is to come from JPJ this season and beyond
I'm definitely excited, but also relieved. What a tragedy it would have been if Joey Porter's son wasn't good.
Good breakdown
Alex your amazing at what you do always so much information you give out
Really appreciate that!
i believe that you are 100% right on this one, but similar videos were put out within the last 2 years, regarding james pierre....i think jpj pedigree will be that difference between a pierre and jpj, just have to see it for an entire season in 2024, his development and production could be a very underrated key to steelers success in 2024?!
Similar ones that I made?
This was awesome Alex. Tried to watch on the website but couldnt get it to “stay.” Really hoping he turns out to be a “shutdown” CB.
Glad you found it here. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the deep dive Alex. Getting tired of all the hot takes. Good to see a something that has some substance
I think Metcalf gave him the most trouble last year
He gave him fits early. I thought Cooper gave Porter problems in the second game and that was with ugly QB play.
If we can avoid injuries we can be an elite Defense.
Agreed!
I Agree, I believe it will take a few weeks for Steelers new ILBs to learn each others tendencies. National audience is going to enjoy Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson explode on Dak Prescott and the Cowboys week 5
Fr though. People are going to get their feelings hurt the way this defense jumps all over them if they don't do their research. We have got some young x-factor style impact players at every position. Benton, Herbig, Queen, Wilson, JPJ the future is blindingly bright
We said that last year and we still sucked.
@@redman8767abledefense finished in the top 6 I think

You NEVER disappoint ‼️👏🏾👏🏾‼️
Appreciate you, Tim!
Great stuff as always Alex. Truly exciting player
Thank you man!
I'm curious how the seemingly improved linebacker room will potentially enhance the backend. Always enjoy your analysis!
Me too. The front seven should be strong if the d-line depth can round out the rotation.
Good stuff Alex!
Thank you for watching, Justin!
Watched a good bit of this on the website, but the quality was rough on my phone. Thanks for getting this to UA-cam so quickly, Alex. I think we are much better off at DB than most people think.
A lot of people like to talk bad about Tomlin but one thing that shouldn’t be questioned is the teams ability to get the most out of DB’s under his watch. Can Sutton, Joe Haden, Akhello Witherspoon, even Minkah Fitzpatrick are all guys who proved they were much better off under Tomlin. With Minkah, a competent SS, JPJ, and Donte Jackson on the outside and Cam Sutton back in the slot I think this is one of the best Steelers secondaries in a while. I think people are really underestimating Donte Jackson, Tomlins interest in him makes me think he will look like a star as a steeler
Thanks for watching!
Jp is a beast so happy we don’t have to relive kp play anymore it was getting scary for a minute great vid alex
😮
Really appreciate this man, didn’t come from a football family and I started playing pretty late. A lot of calls and plays didn’t make much sense but these videos are super useful and applicable.
You're welcome! Glad you found it helpful.
I think this new regime as shown that at some points we have to stop looking at things as "this is how we've always done it" and understand that they are adapting to the new era of the league and will make decisions accordingly. I think it's worth finding out if Tomlin's approach will have success with a front office giving him some more tools and aggressive moves to work with. Tomlin has most recently taken teams that had no business sniffing the playoffs to that point and then we rip him for not having more success when most wouldn't have been there at all. I'm cautiously optimistic for the future here and especially if either QB ends up working out we could be pretty dangerous.
pissant! and stupid too! do you know how YT works???? this why your channel is small
With Tomlin signed they can trade Him, that's the only bright side of this
Wouldn't hold my breath on it happening
That's the problem, wouldn't hold my breath on them winning it
Go root for the browns then...😂
What's that suppose to mean?
So many Steelers fans are so freaking spoiled...most ridiculous takes on keeping a clear HOF coach
Completely understandable y’all will be busy draft week just wanted a way to say thank you for everything. Can’t wait to finally visit Pittsburgh for the first time. Going to spend the whole week there so will definitely need lots of food recommendations and things to do. Been to the last 2 drafts in Kansas City and Detroit (Detroit wasn’t as great, yes lots of people but there was only 3 tvs where you could see what was actually happening) and went for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I’ll have to show you my reaction sometime to the Keeanu Benton and Zach Frazier picks just because I was so happy you nailed those picks on the head. But yeah that’s the good about living in Louisville where the south meets the Midwest and can travel to all these places. Just very excited to finally visit Pittsburgh
Do the Rooney's know they could save a lot of money hiring Jeff Fisher as HC and only have one less win per year?
Or your bit** a$$ could just go to Tennessee where ya belong and root for the Titans.
Imagine telling your wife you haven't paid the rent since 2016.....
Pretty dumb comparison but ok... 🙄
@mattblevins3607 if you're tired, be quiet and go to sleep ho
Don’t think the wife would care much if they haven’t been evicted yet
@greglock7427 not my wife.
@@luboi386 lol true
Hey. No offense, but most of us listen to these things to listen to Alex. He barely spoke, while the other guy pontificated on his thoughts on the Steelers. Ramble much?
You dont listen to the show often thats apparent.
Alex defers to Dave on contracts/salary cap stuff, as Dave is much more of an expert on those things. This time of year that is the main thing to discuss. Dave is also his elder and boss. 😊
Danny Smith 2024
You better believe it!
Came back to watch this one again. I don't think it's a question of IF Payton Wilson will eventually be a force on our defense, but a question of WHEN. Will he get on the field right away or will he be held back a bit at first? It's hard to know at this point, but keep your eye on this player. That's all I'm saying.
The Steelers drafted a very good football player who is plug and play. Congrats from a suffering Broncs fan.
It could be just me, but out of all the guys we drafted in 2024, this is the guy I'll be looking for the most. I hope he proves me right and gets on the field often.
Love the Big Tall corners that can run, a Mel Blount type. I would develop Watts at corner without a doubt. Don’t give him this versatility training stuff to break his focus on corner development until he proves he is not going to be an above average corner. These type of corners are hard to find and if you find a copy of JPJ to play opposite, imagine what that defense becomes! Now you can focus on shutting down those tight ends and all those 10 yard crossing routes that seem to kill us. Maybe Payton Wilson solves that! Thank you for another fun and educational video!
Honestly, the first 2 plays are touchdowns for Fields.
If they can utilize both qbs, they will force teams to game plan for a more diverse offense in their preparation. We have all season to perfect it. The opponent will have 1 week. Could be very advantageous for the steelers come playoff time.
i honestly have no interest in trick plays and running QBs that can't read defenses. I wish we had kept our guy and given him a real chance. Tomlin screwed it all up and now we have 2 QBs that I'm not excited about.
Kenney was ass and he has 2 seasons dude. He had no pocket awareness and no arm strength
